• 1-30 – Saginaw, Bay City, Midland: WE NEED S’MORE BLOOD DRIVE at all donation centers during regular hours. Everyone who tries to donate will be entered in a prize drawing (one drawing per location per week) and will get the makings of “S’mores” (graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows).
• 1-31 – Northwest Michigan: 3RD ANNUAL ROTARY BLOOD CHALLENGE, at all mobile blood drives & permanent donor centers, sponsored by Traverse Bay Sunrise Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Traverse City, Traverse Bay Twilight Rotary Club, Rotary Club of Elk Rapids, and Suttons Bay-Leelanau County Rotary Club. Clubs compete to see which one can recruit the most blood donors. Donate at any blood drive or donor center and specify which Rotary Club your donation should support. Winner to be determined by figuring total number of donors recruited as a percentage of club membership.
• 1-31 – Northwest Michigan: Everyone who tries to donate blood at any Blood Center location or blood drive will receive a $5 coupon redeemable at LaSenorita Mexican Restaurants two Traverse City locations (coupon good at either location).

• 5 – Grand Rapids: ROCK ‘N’ ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVE BLOOD DRIVE & LIVE BANDS CONCERT with WGRD 97.9FM at main donor center, 1036 Fuller NE. Donate 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. LIVE radio broadcast 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bands include Essex, Doogie, Cold Cash Machine, Absinthe, and Left Hand Daisy playing 1-hour sets from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free hotdogs and ice cream for donors (free water provided for spectators; other refreshments may be purchased) plus chance to win seasonal drawing for 50” HDTV courtesy of Decker & Sons Appliance.

• 21 – Traverse City: MCBC NIGHT AT TRAVERSE CITY BEACH BUMS at Wuerfel Park, 333 Stadium Drive. First 1000 spectators through the gate will receive a Beach Bums pennant. Ruby, the Blood Center mascot, will throw out the first pitch.
• 23 – Hastings: SUMMERFEST PARADE, 10:30 a.m. staging begins for 12:30 p.m. start of parade from corner of State & Apple.

• 29 – Benzonia: BENZIE ACCOUNTING & TAX SERVICE welcomes blood donors for a festive drive at 787 Michigan Avenue, Noon to 6 p.m., on the Blood Bus. All donors will be treated to grilled picnic fare, compliments of the Benzie Accounting & Tax Service.
